Go Vote

I will not remind you to vote today because you are already voting. I feel it in my heart. You have a plan, and you’re ready to go. You know that voting is essential, and you’ve seen what happens when people stay home from the polls or say things like, “Well, I don’t like X candidate, so it doesn’t really matter if I don’t vote.” Yes, it does matter because “don’t like” is not equal to “I’m okay if someone bananapants is in office instead.”

So I am not going to write a post imploring you to leave your house or vote by mail and make your voice count.

Except we are talking and thinking about nothing else in this house. Even though we suspect we already know how some of the results will shake down.

Fine. I’m going to ask you to get out and vote. Please.

P.S. The twins are voting today! Yes, those kids who were drinking bottles at the beginning of this blog.

How exciting that the twins are voting! I voted early, as did my DH. My kid won’t be able to vote until (sigh) after the 2024 election, unfortunately.

I cannot believe that the twins can vote!

I mean, I can, but still. Craziness.

What a big day for your family! I love this! I voted this morning. I don’t love all my candidates but I do love democracy and am scared of the way things are heading. I keep reading the analogy that voting is like public transport – there may not be a bus going to my exact location but that doesn’t mean I stay home. It means I choose the bus that’s going to get me closest to where I actually want to be. And that is as far away from bananapants crazy as possible.

It’s been a nervous day as I await results, like everyone else.

How did the twins get to be old enough to vote? I didn’t think that you could vote if you’re still in elementary school!

(Isn’t it weird how we tend to just…freeze some people in time and refuse to believe they’ve gotten any older?)
