Election Results
I’ve always paid attention to the election results in other states because they clearly impact every American. What happens in Florida can affect people in Maine. But this year is strange because I don’t know where the twins will live next year.
Up until this point, it was pretty neat and tidy. We focused on our state, and just our state, noticing what was happening in other states without investing much emotional energy. But now the twins will likely be in another state, or maybe even two other states, and we know how much local politicians can change the tenor of a state. So we need to peek into what is happening in many different states because they won’t know where they’ll end up for a while. It’s a strange feeling.
So I’m glued to the results, checking on all states, sending good thoughts into the universe.

Breathing a little easier in MI this morning… FL seems like a lost cause at this point unless they can reverse all the gerrymandering :/

I am relieved and disappointed at once today. Watching the results come in for many states, and wishing some were different while very happy with others. There are a few more to keep an eye on…
I’m just thinking of you all. I don’t always understand the state races, though I’ve watched some of the Governor races, and find it too frustrating to dig into in any depth! The gerrymandering is mind-boggling. Talk about democracy under threat!
Interesting point. A friend whose high school senior is considering colleges completely removed Arizona and Texas from her list of possibilities due to the abortion restrictions in place in those states, which is something I never considered when deciding on a college.
