Things I Failed at Last Month
I loved this list of yearly failures. Accomplishments? That’s Instagram. Failures? That’s blogging. Right? Because blogging is about the camaraderie that comes when another person reads your messy thoughts and says, “Me too.”
At least, those are the blogs I read.
So far, this year, I have failed at returning to writing books. Failed at waking up for yoga at least seven mornings. (Sometimes several in a row.) I failed to make the dinner that Josh chose and left the ingredients in the freezer. I also failed to make the cookie recipe that is sitting on my counter along with the ingredients. I failed at saying exactly what I was thinking.
There were many more things on my list when I was making it in my head, but I failed at jotting them down.
What did you fail at last month?

I failed at actually adding exercise to my wellness plan. Which I’d decided to do after Thanksgiving and still haven’t done.
I might ask my students to do this. They are so good at listing accomplishments. What have I failed at? Being a kind wife (honestly I’ve been kind of a shitshow), being a patient parent, borrowing books instead of buying them, cooking enough dinner, getting out for walks, caring for my health … PREACH.
Lots of things! A couple of things that spring immediately to mind: I planned to continuing working on decluttering/minimizing (something I have worked at off and on for years, and tackled in earnest for several weeks last fall), and I actually did no work at all toward that goal. OY.
I am also doing The Unread Shelf Challenge, and I didn’t read any physical books off my shelf. Boo.
