Case of the Mondays
24 hours from now, I’ll be getting ready for work. I’m not usually someone who feels down at the end of a break — I really like structure, and I’m usually better with work days than unstructured time. But I’m having a hard time with the break being over, even though I have three reports that I enjoy creating on my schedule for Monday.
It’s hard to feel rested and recharged during the pandemic, so the vacation in front of me (the one where I feel hopeful that I’ll catch up on sleep and get a break from worrying) is better than the vacation that has just happened.
It’s hard to feel hopeful in the moment. To sense any fresh start. Maybe summer will be better.

I thought about this and decided to take the first week of January off too. 🤪
Enjoy your last day off.
Yeah. We just got back from a fabulous week-long vacation to Maui, but I kinda wish I had another week to catch up on things around the house before I have to go back to work.
Alas, my time off is limited, and the usual routine resumes tomorrow. Maybe it’ll be a good thing.
Here there are four days off (Saturday, Sunday, New Year’s Day in lieu, and the day after NY’s Day in lieu), so people don’t go back to work until Wednesday at the earliest, unless they work in retail. Monday seems too soon!
I agree with you on vacations/holidays. I’ve always said they are the reward for the past stress and work, and that immediately they are over, it feels like you need a new one!
