Mental Sampler 16
We just started watching Downton Abbey for the first time (sans Wolvog because he didn’t find the idea of a period drama appealing) and… why didn’t any of you tell me how good it was? You all let me miss its entire run. We love it so hardcore that we call watching it, “Spending time with our Castle family.”
The ChickieNob and I cannot stop ourselves from looking up spoilers, so we know a large chunk of what will happen in the series, but it doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. In fact, it’s making me race through the episodes because we’re so eager to see it all play out.
New life goal: visiting Highclere Castle.

I am also beyond excited for the new season of Daredevil. I love Matt Murdock, and I’m so excited to see that Kingpin is back. (At least, I’m assuming he’s back since they featured him in the teaser video.). Is anyone else watching?

I posted about this on Facebook, but it sparked a bunch of interesting side conversations. ChickieNob and I were at a red light and two moths having sex landed on the windshield. You may be asking me how I know the moths were having sex. I guess if you have to ask that question, you’ve clearly never see moths making love.
It was like the squirrels all over again.
I ended up squirting the moths with wiper fluid, and they were stunned for a moment but then flew off, still having sex IN THE AIR. Life goals.

I loved Downton Abbey! Also, hilarious about the moths.
How did you not hear how great Downton Abbey was? I wouldn’t bother saying anything because it was one of the understood things about the universe!
Also, when you posted about the moths, I immediately thought of the squirrels! Why are you attracting frisky wildlife?
*snicker* Mothy Mile High Club *snort*
So glad you found Downton. Did you hear there’s a movie coming out?
What is it with you and animals having sex in front of you? Granted, I have a pair of procreating birds who have no issue doing the deed. Every. Single. Morning. (The ultimate porn for cats, btw), but I’m only dealing with one species.
Love Lori’s moth mile high club. 😉
And Downton Abbey. Look at it this way: you don’t have to wait for new sessions. You and ChickieNob can sail through all of it in its glory, living the lives of the Crawleys and all their staff.
No to Daredevil, but other series I’m loving is Anne with an E (based off of Anne of Green Gables). This last season was insanely good.
Ha, the moth sex is definitely aspirational! I’m glad you could squirt them and have it not, um, interrupt things or result in mid-sex-death, which would be a bummer. I haven’t watched Downton Abbey yet, either, but it’s on the list! I’m glad you’re enjoying it, even with all the spoilers you can’t resist…
“Life goals.” Snigger!
Downton Abbey is fabulous. I’m glad you’ve found it, and that ChickieNob is old enough to be able to enjoy it with you. See, that’s why you weren’t to have watched it earlier. Though STOP googling spoilers! lol
Heh, I’m just picturing you being all like “GET A ROOM!” whilst squirting the moths.
Yep, Downton Abbey is definitely awesome. I’m usually watching and wanting to kidnap half the wardrobe (where I would wear it and the fact that most of it wouldn’t look all that great on me be darned, I loooove period dresses!). And it is a great escape!
We managed to pick up the entire series of Downton Abbey from a secondhand shop a few months back. I know pretty much everything that happens and I’ve seen the whole of the first series, but I’m looking forward to watching it in its entirety.
Right now we’re watching the first six series of Call The Midwife which I’m calling therapy.
I held out on Downton Abbey until midway through the second-last season & then watched it all until the end. I even got dh hooked. 😉 We watched some of the previous seasons during a weekend-long marathon. Still need to see the very early seasons, though. (I wrote a couple of DA-themed posts on my blog too — including one where I put a spoiler in the title & got taken to task by a reader who hadn’t seen the episode yet…!!)
