Your Sleep Routine Personality
Beyond brushing and flossing your teeth or washing your face, what do you do before bed?
I need to tell you my bedtime routine backwards because the things closest to lights out are things I always do, and the earlier we get, the more variety you’ll see. So right before lights out, we listen to the Shipping Forecast. (And sometimes whisper to each other, “Crap, Iceland is going to be dealing with squally showers tonight.) Before that, I write one sentence in my bullet journal. Before that, I check email one last time. Before that, I am looking up something on the Internet from a television show or book. Before that, I’m probably watching a television show or reading a book. Before that, I am almost definitely playing one last round of some stupid game on my phone. Before that, I am playing all the earlier rounds of the stupid game on my phone.
Night after night after night.
A survey looked to see if your score on a Myers-Briggs test could predict your nighttime routine, proving that our personalities naturally draw us towards certain activities.
Remember how I was trying to figure out if I was an ISTJ or an INTJ? I am definitely NOT an ISTJ — I don’t drink any alcohol much less hard liquor. But I am totally an INTJ. Internet before bed? Uh, 5 out of 7 pre-bed activities use the Internet. I was also able to eliminate the possibility of ISFJ, because I only watch television because Josh wants to watch television. I don’t think I’ve ever turned the television on when Josh has been out-of-town. INFJ is still a possibility because I like to read. But INTJ sounds the most like me.
So what is your Myers-Briggs type and what is your bedtime routine? Does it match up?

Bedtime meds (metformin, prenatals, etc.), fill up humidifier, put on lash boost (amazing stuff), chat with my hubby, and lights out.
I’m a slacker: I don’t floss nightly and I rarely wash my face unless I wore makeup that day. My bedtime routine consists of taking my medications (for high blood pressure and high cholesterol — woohoo, middle age!), removing my contact lenses and changing into sleepwear. I generally double check my alarm on my phone and check email one last time before I go to sleep with the phone on the nightstand next to me.
I’m an ESTJ, and I never work before bed, although I do sometimes read before bed. So they got me wrong partly wrong and partly right. 😉
Well, as an INTJ, that’s as close as it gets. I spend a couple hours on the internet to wind down before bed. Before the internet, I would watch TV or read. I just need some period of time where no one expects me to do anything, I think. Like when I worked 2nd shift and got home at 12:30 am, I would have to do something til about 2, because I couldn’t just drive home and go to bed. I don’t like to go out, stay out late, and then come home and go straight to bed. Currently, the internet serves me best in this capacity.
Mine was spot on (read right before bed). And my sister’s was, too (no routine).
Fun find!
Bath/shower, face wash, shampoor, Bedtime Meds, Night time Shema, listening to Beshem Hashem, lure the kitties onto the bed, my daughter always has to ‘talk to Gabriel’ as he’s her favorite angel. Then we usually go to bed to someone reading a story on youtube or violin music.
Tonight’s differed a bit as I wrote on my blog and proceeded to have a mental breakdown and cry for a bit.
Mine was spot on with Listen to Music though lol
