Grandplant

ChickieNob’s college gifted her with a plant at move-in, and she brought it down in a bag over winter break. My grandplant looked a little scraggly, but we nursed it back to health while she was home.

I am currently watching my grandplant so she does not have to schlep it back and forth during breaks. It’s like having a little bit of the ChickieNob here. I sit and talk to it as if the plant is a direct line to my daughter’s brain.

I have big plans to re-pot my grandplant soon, along with one of the clippings I took from her back in October. It’s just nice to see her reaching out toward the sun.

We still have a plant that was given to my wife when she was 11 and recovering from surgery…the plant has been repotted and turned into cuttings many times, but it’s continued living all these decades and we really love that. And I treasure the African violet that some friends gave me in 2014 when my mom died. These plants represent love, and I love that.

Oh I love this, what a lovely move in gift from the college and what a lucky plant to have you as its companion and caretaker while ChickieNob is away from home. I have no doubt she feels and hears your love through your chats with the plant.

What kind of grandplant is it? This is so touching. They have those lamps you can get that turn in when someone far away touches it to signal that they are thinking of you. Sounds like a plant version!
