#Microblog Monday 425: Need a Project
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

I don’t really need a project, except that I kind of love being in the middle of something. My crocheting skills pretty much end in scarf-land. Because I can make a scarf, I can also make a blanket (which is kind of just a big scarf). But for whatever reason, until I saw this picture, I didn’t think about how I could make a shawl. I could go out and buy the most delicious blue yarn and make myself the perfect winter wrap to wear while I’m reading.
This is the best idea ever. I just wish I knew how to do that edging. So mine may not look quite as awesome, but it’s going to be fantastic.

#Microblog Monday 424: Class of 2023

Back when the kids were in Kindergarten, one of the other parents commented that our kids would be the class of 2023. 2023? That was ridiculously far away. Nothing to worry about.
Except the calendar page has flipped, and suddenly we’re in that year, months away from graduation. I know that winter break isn’t the halfway point — we’re still in the second grading period — but it emotionally feels like the halfway point. Like we crossed onto the other side of a line, and we’re now standing on the same side of graduation. I am so proud of them for the people they’ve grown up to be. And I am so sad to be on the other side of the line, looking at that endpoint.

#Microblog Monday 423: Merry Update

As a non-Christmas celebrator, I love hearing what other people did, ate, received, gave for the holiday.
So tell me, what did you do, eat, receive, or give? Which is a bigger deal in your world — Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? And what is your favourite way to spend the day after?

#Microblog Monday 422: Who Do You Cook For?
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.
*******
I read the dek on an article about Deb Perelman that caught my eye. When I cook (and I don’t ask the other person what they want), am I choosing what I want to eat? What I think the other person would like to eat? What I think we should eat? Or… something else.
It’s a thought-provoking question because if we cook what we want to eat, there is a 50/50 chance the other person may not like it. If we cook what we think they want to eat, there is a slightly better chance the other person will like it, but the cook may not. If we cook what we think people should eat, we may end up off the mark. It’s an interesting question: trying to make two or more people happy, all with the same dish.
What do you think about when you choose what you’re cooking? Unless you’re not the cook, and then how often do you sense the meal revolves around your tastes?

#Microblog Monday 421: Levels of Busy
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.
*******
I recently found this list of busy levels. According to the author, there are seven levels, though it feels a little top-heavy. Like you go from manageable to elements of drowning early on. You hit capacity in the middle and then spend the following three levels getting progressively frantic.
My work hours spill into life hours, but that happens before I get to crushing commitments. And I’ve never hit unsustainable if the definition is being unable to eat and having a to-do list changing hour by hour.
I seem to skip over cracks in the facade.
Anyway, what do you think? I found it a curious depiction of activity.
