1107th Friday Blog Roundup

We had our final autumn trip to visit the kids at college. We go four times per year, but the autumn trip is my favourite trip, and this year, we coincided with peak fall foliage. It was an errand-heavy trip, but we managed to squeeze in lunch outdoors at a great cafe and a hike through the woods.

It was really hard to leave, as it’s always really hard to leave, though each time we leave now, it’s also with the knowledge that we won’t be doing this next year. We will be visiting them in other places, or they may be living at home, but I am so sad thinking about how we won’t all be there together.

Beginnings are hard. Endings are even harder.

Stop procrastinating. Go make your backups. Don’t have regrets.

Seriously. Stop what you’re doing for a moment. It will take you fifteen minutes, tops. But you will have peace of mind for days and days. It’s the gift to yourself that keeps on giving.

As always, add any new thoughts to the Friday Backup post and peruse new comments to find out about methods, plug-ins, and devices that help you quickly back up your data and accounts.

And now the blogs…

But first, second, helpings of the posts that appeared in the open comment thread last week. To read the description before clicking over, please return to the open thread:

Okay, now my choices this week.

Talking about change, Finding a Different Path celebrated her anniversary at her wedding site for the final time. The restaurant is moving to another location. She writes, “We brought all our hopes for children there. We drowned our sorrows over disappointments and losses there. We saw others’ families expand, and expanded our own family to include our friends there. We’ve celebrated, grieved, cheered, cried, laughed, and loved there.” It’s a beautiful ode to a special space. And I absolutely love the pictures.

Lastly, Infertile Phoenix celebrated her 10th blogoversary. She reflects on all that happened over that decade. I love this so much: “I didn’t know what to do when I realized I wasn’t going to be a mother in this lifetime, but I figured it out over time. I rediscovered enthusiasm. I explored new avenues to happiness. I found a new hobby. I cultivated contentment and became best friends with myself.” Congratulations!

The roundup to the Roundup: Visiting the kids. Your weekly backup nudge. And lots of great posts to read. So what did you find this week? Please use a permalink to the blog post (written between October 23 – 30) and not the blog’s main URL. Not understanding why I’m asking you what you found this week.
