I recently learned about posy rings, which are pretty much like the one ring to rule them all, except the writing doesn’t fade. And it’s on the inside of the band (in many cases) instead of the outside. So only the wearer knows that they’re wearing the words around their finger.

The V&A has a bunch in their collection.

At some point, I told myself that I wouldn’t like Naomi Novik’s Scholomance trilogy. I had it on my TBR and took it off. And then it showed up on a list of books people love who also love The Magicians, and that trilogy is my favourite.

I cannot believe I almost missed these books. They are funny and clever and hit the same spot as Rainbow Rowell’s Simon Snow books. I love them.

Another geography-based game, which I love because I can pretty much name and place every country in the world on a map as well as identify them by shape or distance between two places. That was not the case years ago when I first started playing Worldle or Globle. Yay games!

I like this one — it’s one of my evening games — but you first have to guess the continent the mystery country is on. So you may lose two or three turns just trying to get on the correct continent. So I don’t love that aspect. But other than that, Geografind is a super solid geography game.

I have a game… of course, I have a game. I always have a game. But this game has a lot of replay.

With Habitat, you get a tiny land with trees, wheat, and bear-like animals. The job is to build houses from the trees, grow food to support the people in the houses, and keep your resources plentiful without depleting the land.

It took me three tries, but I entered an endless mode where I had all elements in optimal balance. It’s a fun game to pick up for a few minutes while you’re waiting for the water to boil.

Peaklet is a game you play AND contribute to. Each day, you get an opinion or a factual question with many possible answers. For instance, what are the longest books in this list? And then there are maybe 12 – 20 choices. Your job is to rank the top five by size. So choose the five longest books, and then put them in order from longest to shortest of the long books.

After each guess, it tells you whether you chose a correct option in the correct place, a correct option in the wrong place, or an incorrect option. You get five tries to get the items in order.

BUT. After you play a round, you get a survey on some days. The answers to that survey become a future question. For instance, I ranked my top 5 favourite animals out of a list of 20ish animals, and days later, I got to guess what were collectively the top 5 animals.
