I own a spelunking suit. It is — without a doubt — the least used item in my house. I don’t go caving anymore, and I don’t foresee myself doing it again in the future.
It was worth the money when I bought it because I cannot tell you the number of times I was happy to be able to get back to the camp site, wash it off, and be done. It has a lot of pockets — big pockets — enabling me to carry everything efficiently. Loved that suit.
Even though it is useless now.
If the point is decluttering, that suit should go. But it’s an item I will never purchase again. Meaning, I own it now, but if I get rid of it and then need it in the future, it is too costly an item to buy a second time for how much I will use it. And yes, I can imagine plenty of scenarios where the suit might be used.
Do you have items that you hold onto because while you don’t need them, you also don’t want to repurchase them again in case it turns out that you do need them down the road?

#MicroblogMonday 66: Thankfulness

*******
If you live in the US, you likely spent the last five days either cooking a big meal, consuming a big meal, and/or perusing the big sales.
We were only in charge of the cranberry sauce and dessert, so we didn’t have to cook a big meal. But we consumed a big meal. And while I didn’t end up shopping since we have nothing to shop for in terms of gifts, I did purchase two things on our to-buy list simply because sales made it easy.
If you live in the US, what did you say that you were thankful for? And if you don’t live in the US, it’s a nice practice to pause from time to time and reflect on what makes you grateful so join along. What is on your list?

#MicroblogMondays 65: Modes of Transportation
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.
*******
It’s Thanksgiving week in the United States. Wednesday is one of the busiest travel days of the year over here, though people will be traveling in huge numbers all week.
It is hard to know which mode of transportation has the heaviest volume. Airports, trains, and roads are all packed. Traffic, in general, makes my travel anxiety shoot through the roof.
But I would take packed roads over a packed plane or packed train (having experienced all three) any day. One, the timing of my travel is more flexible in the car. Two, I can take breaks when I feel my blood pressure soaring. And three, it is possible to pull off the road for Twizzlers. If I had to rank them from worst to best, I would say planes, trains, and cars.
At any time of year, what is your least favourite mode of transportation?

#MicroblogMondays 64: Best Invention Ever
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

This hoodie is a portable back massager. Granted, I have no clue what it looks like operating on your body. Perhaps you perpetually look like you are doing a sitting up version of the worm, but I choose to believe that this hoodie will allow me to discreetly get a back massage all the ding-dong time.
I want. I mean, I want as long as it doesn’t do odd things to my body on the cellular level. It’s so brilliant that I can’t believe it hasn’t been done before this point — make a massage chair that can go with you.
What invention do you wish someone would make real?

#MicroblogMondays 63: Coupon Used
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.
*******
I had a gift certificate for $10 for a store I frequent that was due to expire. I don’t buy myself a lot of things — usually only books or games — but I decided to splurge and put the money towards a new purse. My old one was falling apart, and a new purse would make me feel organized and put together.
I measured my current purse, and I looked at my options online. I ordered one that I thought looked perfect. Then it arrived and it was definitely not perfect. So I returned it. (And lost my $10 gift certificate in the process. Sniff.)
I was going to let the whole thing go when I decided to poke around in different stores, suck it up, and just spend the money on myself. So I did, and I got a completely awesome black backpack. It does make me feel more put together.
What was your last splurge?
