1092nd Friday Blog Roundup

I have one kid back! The ChickieNob came home this week, and while a little jet-lagged and definitely missing handling rare books for research purposes and going to medieval sites, I am thrilled that I can bother her in real time. Quentin is also happy to have a new source of backrubs and treats.

Long story short, I didn’t need to be worried because she totally rocked the experience.

But I’m so glad she’s home for a few weeks before heading off again.

Stop procrastinating. Go make your backups. Don’t have regrets.

Seriously. Stop what you’re doing for a moment. It will take you fifteen minutes, tops. But you will have peace of mind for days and days. It’s the gift to yourself that keeps on giving.

As always, add any new thoughts to the Friday Backup post and peruse new comments to find out about methods, plug-ins, and devices that help you quickly back up your data and accounts.

And now the blogs…

*******

But first, second, helpings of the posts that appeared in the open comment thread last week. To read the description before clicking over, please return to the open thread:

  • None… sniff.

Okay, now my choices this week.

Please circle the wagons around No Kidding in NZ, whose husband died after a long illness. She explains: “We were together since our university days. We grew up together. We shared everything. Together we learned and explored – ideas, activities, and the world – in ways that we might not have done apart. I am who I am because of him. But now I have to learn to be alone.” Alone but together with a network of friends and family around the world. Sending a hug.

Lastly, A Half Baked Life writes about an energy shift; change after change after change. I loved the story about finding the front of the pin and also think it’s a sign from the universe, but this made me laugh (and cringe?) and feels like a metaphor for something: “I was cleaning out the fish tank in the office, and it seemed like everyone was standing around chatting, completely oblivious to the fact that my hands were full of fish poop and that it would have been nice to step in and help me out.” May we all find helpers when we’re coated in fish poop.

The roundup to the Roundup: I have one kid back. Your weekly backup nudge. And lots of great posts to read. So what did you find this week? Please use a permalink to the blog post (written between July 10 – July 17) and not the blog’s main URL. Not understanding why I’m asking you what you found this week. Read the original open thread post here.
