#Microblog Monday 575: Streaks
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

A discussion about streaks made me realize how many streaks I was keeping, and while none of them feel onerous, it did give me pause. I close my rings every day on my Apple Watch, I meditate, and I read. I play 9 games before work while I drink coffee, and 9 games after dinner. I write down a single sentence about work, and in another notebook, a single sentence about my non-work life.
I clearly care about them, or I wouldn’t have tracked/kept them. But it does seem like a lot of things to keep going, writing it down like that.
Do you keep any streaks?

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts connected to businesses or sponsored posts.

Just my trainwell exercise streaks, which are attached to a real personal trainer.
I don’t even keep my hinge health streaks even though I really should because when I don’t my back hurts.
I don’t see a Linky form? But here’s my #MMpost for today:

I don’t know if I track streaks per se, but I do track a lot of things. I play four different Heardle Decades games every day, and NYT Connections, and track those in a monthly post on my blog (and yeah, streaks are part of that!). I track weight loss/gain every week on an app (and on my blog once a month). I track my reading/books completed on Goodreads & StoryGraph. And probably other things, if I think about it…!
I’ve taken all pressure off myself to keep streaks. A few years ago I was doing Wordle and about 6-8 others daily. Now I do them if I feel like it, usually just Waffle and Strands, and don’t worry if I miss one or all of them. I find keeping up with blogging (and I’ve joined a new blogging project this year – though we are doing it either once a week or once a fortnight depending on our commitments) enough pressure. lol And that’s not even weekly, any more. Don’t give yourself more pressure or stress for things that should be fun!
Streaks stress me out… It becomes like a tiresome compulsion for me. But yay streaks for you!
I have a streak going right now. 138 days. It’s for this cute self-care app called Finch. I use it every day because I want to though, not because I feel compelled. It’s fun.
You get a little bird that you name, and you collect rainbow stones to buy outfits and decorate its birdhouse. You can use the app however you prefer. I like to track my daily goals and mood. I have different goals for different days. I reflect on Sundays about what goals are working for me and keep those. The goals that are stressing me out I modify or delete.
I agree with Jess. They become a compulsion for me and take the fun out of it. I’m a bit envious of you and others who can keep them up without it taking over.
The only streak I have is with my daughter on TikTok, and it 100% relies on her sending me videos. She doesn’t watch what I send her because she is a jerk. So, sometimes I get to text her “why did you send me the video that I just sent you?” Because I am also a jerk.
She had a virus a couple weeks ago and her heart was racing. She borrowed her boyfriend’s Apple Watch to see what her heart rate was. I always refused to buy her one of those tracking wearables because I knew she would get a bit obsessive about it. She ended up buying an Apple Watch for herself, so we’ll see how that goes…
