#Microblog Monday 570: Weather Event

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

*******

All last week, the news would report that we maybe-likely-possibly-definitely have a weather event. The weather event would be zero inches of snow or 3,000 inches of snow.

I do not envy meteorologists because people get so angry when their predictions are wrong. But they can’t really predict accurately until we’re close to the event. I still think it’s pretty cool that we live in a world where we get some advance warning that something is about to happen.

I prepped by putting batteries in the flashlights, locating extra blankets and thermal layers, and making sure we had ingredients for meals.

I always think that I want snow until I get snow. And then I realize that I don’t really want snow. At all.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts connected to businesses or sponsored posts.

We got pretty close to the predictions, but I just saw a photo from the next town over (like…5 miles away) with barely a dusting on their grass. We got about 10″. Weird!

I am very happy that I have nowhere that I need to be other than on my couch, wrapped in blankets. Until tomorrow afternoon, when I have to take the dog to the vet. Again. For about the 5th time this year.

I’ve been thinking of you all. Snow is both magical and scary for us here, so I can kind of understand the wish for it and the wish it would stop or go away. Hope you’re keeping warm and fed.

I loooooove the snow, as long as I’m not driving in it and don’t have to shovel it. We got about 14″ and change, and it’s turned over to lake effect, so we have quite the nice pile! We went for a walk in it today and it just made everything look magical. So, snow when you can just enjoy it? Lovely! Snow when it disrupts your daily living? Not so much. I would still prefer snow if it’s cold to no snow though, helps fight the darkness and blahness of winter. 🙂

I was going to write something about the weather & snow days, but never got my act together to post in time…! We had a huge dump of snow here on Sunday, up to 60 cm by some accounts (about 2 feet!). The main roads are plowed, but it’s still kind of messy out there.

I’ve always said that if I ran the universe, snow would magically appear around the 1st of December and it would all magically disappear around Feb. 1st. After that, it gets pretty old pretty fast…!
