#Microblog Monday 543: Delete Week
Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

I am a sucker for any hack that takes any task that feels too big to begin and breaks it down into small pieces. Enter the Delete Week.
Someone posted this on LinkedIn. You set a timer and focus on deleting things from one space, such as email, social media, your phone, or camera roll. When the hour is over, you walk away. It won’t be perfect, but think about how much you can delete and space you can wrestle back.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts connected to businesses or sponsored posts.

I have so much that needs to be deleted that I need a Delete Year! It is always a good idea to set a time limit on chores, because when you view them as a whole, they can easily become overwhelming. Thanks for the reminder! (I have caved on posting elsewhere – so added in my travelblog for this week’s Monday blog).
Like Mali above, I could use a Delete Year! I do try to weed through my Outlook/Bell Mail emails regularly (like, once a month, although it’s often longer between sessions) and file the ones I want to keep (at least for a while), but my GMail account (which I use less often) hasn’t been touched in years. And I need to do some serious weeding, because the hard drive on my laptop is rapidly filling up…! Photos are the main culprit — I have every photo I’ve taken dating back to 1991 (the early ones have been digitized — and I still have to do 1976-90!), along with several years’ worth of my parents’ photos, and I regularly download my latest photos from my cellphone. (They’re also backed up to Google Photos.) I back them all up regularly, and someone suggested I should transfer the older photos to a(nother?) backup hard drive — but I do like having them all handy and in one place. I am paranoid about losing my photos! Sigh….
I gotta do that one of these days…
