#Microblog Monday 481: One More Game

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

*******

I could lie and say I don’t construct my day around a series of games, but it’s a lie and you know it’s a lie, so let’s move forward.

I love the new game from the New York Times, Strands. Each day, you have to find a series of words that are part of a theme. So once you figure out the theme, you know what you’re looking for. And it has hints if you find three words that are not part of the theme (that is a brilliant addition), and you know that one word will stretch from one end of the puzzle to the other. It’s now part of my morning routine, which grows and shrinks as I find new games but currently totaling nine games I play over coffee.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts connected to businesses or sponsored posts.

I’ve given up a lot of my games, and put my time into reading these days. Or puzzle games when I’m watching a screen. Worldle and Globle started rerunning all the countries of the world (I guess there are limits on that! lol) and the Flag one, so I dropped them. I also got a bit bored with Wordle, Dordle, Quordle, etc etc, though I pop in and do some from time to time. I usually do Waffle because it’s quick and usually easy, and NYT’s Connections (though I often forget) which I quite enjoy (though I don’t always get the US sport/brand name etc references), but I have puzzles from my Saturday newspaper, and do a lot of them during the week, including the crosswords and cryptic crosswords. Or I try! Strands sounds though, sounds like Connections, so it might be fun.

Gaaaah! I was like, “I can resist another game,” and then I couldn’t find it on my NYT games app, and then I followed the link, and then I saw it was beta and so maybe if enough people play it they will put it on the dashboard, and I played it and IT WAS SO SATISFYING. Dammit, Mel, another one to add to my daily “do nothing” time. 🙂
