#Microblog Monday 455: Registration Failure

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

*******

Yesterday, I went to register for an event. The event page informed me I was entitled to 11 tickets due to our membership level. I filled out the form and requested two.

A pop-up appeared with, “Are you bringing any children?” even though I skipped entering anything in the box that specifically asked about children. You would think that leaving it empty would indicate that I was bringing zero children.

I almost closed the box without registering but finished the form without another automatic reference to our smaller household. What someone thought was a thoughtful touch, reminding people to count everyone in their party so they had an accurate head count, was another paper cut.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts connected to businesses or sponsored posts.

Just wanted to say I get what you are feeling, but at the same time I cannot truly understand how you feel since I don’t have twins. When my first goes to college I will still have one at home. And I suspect your NICU experience (which I did not know about until you reposted about it) compounds things. And it seems you have an extremely close relationship with your kids (it appears you were spared the “I hate my parents” teenage phase) further compounding things. I hope you are finding some solace and taking things day by day.

Also, the “are you bringing kids” things seems ignorant – imagine infertile or childless not by choice couples trying to go to an event, in addition to empty nesters. Ugh.

Those little digs are everywhere. 🙁
