The Best Pens in the World

The ChickieNob and Wolvog needed trifold boards for a presentation, so we swung by Staples, which meant ducking into the pen aisle because I LOVE pens. I use Pilot’s G-2s, though I am a sucker for an impulse pen purchase. A case in point: the Sharpie gel pens.

“Whoa, Sharpie gel pens. What do you think of them?” I asked.

“I think you have a pen you already know you like,” the ChickieNob said.

“But maybe I would like that pen even more. Maybe it will change my life.”

“It won’t. We’re getting G-2s because you’re holding them,” the Wolvog told me.

I bought them, and then the universe delivered AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE BEST PENS. Sometimes it’s okay that the algorithm knows your inner thoughts.

While I was happy that they acknowledged Pilot pens in multiple categories, there was no mention of the G-2, which is a superior pen. But Sharpie didn’t make the list at all. So there’s that. The twins saved me from pen disappointment.

Jetpens sells G2, and that’s where I get my refills, particularly for my different color G2. That website often describes the G2 as the gateway pen. I still love my G2s for anything .7 or 1.0 but for smaller sizes I have other preferences. Also G2 are washable for checks so if you still write checks for anything you’ll want a signo or other unwashable ink.

P.S. I think the jetpens people prefer the Sarasa over the G2. They’re very similar but the Sarasa dries much more quickly and I think has better properties with highlighters. I have some .5 Sarasa that I like.

Who knew there were so many different kinds of pens?? lol My favourite is the Pilot V5… I’ve used them for years and have them in multiple colours. They’re getting harder to find, though — our local Staples does not seem to carry them anymore. At one point, I was desperate and so I tried Pentel EnerGel V7s , which dh likes, but I prefer a finer tip. So I’ve resorted to ordering them from Amazon — the blue & black in bulk quantities!

I use the Sharpie gel pens almost exclusively these days. 😉
