#Microblog Monday 419: Quiet Thanksgiving

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

Poor Beorn is not a fan of Thanksgiving. The cooking sounds like many other holidays, but there are fewer bits and pieces he’s given while I’m prepping things because potatoes are not a guinea pig’s friend. And we had potatoes three ways (mashed potatoes, cottage fries, and balsamic sweet potatoes). Still, he enjoyed the parsley leftovers and the ends of celery. But it was a little heartbreaking to watch him stand on his hind legs, his face hopeful, as he wheeked at me in the kitchen to give him a bite of whatever I was chopping.

How was your Thanksgiving?

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

We had a nice time at my sister’s. The dogs were disappointed that they didn’t get to share the feast.

We had our Thanksgiving back in October, so it was mostly a non-event here — although dh did watch some football, lol. My mother (born & raised in Minnesota ) & dad had turkey dinner with some other American expats in the small town where they live. They’ve been doing it for years — one woman always hosts and does the turkey, while everyone else brings sides — but I think this was the first time since the pandemic.

Poor Beorn! Of course, Thanksgiving is not a thing here. But I did get together with friends, and one of them brought a pecan pie with a nod to the US Thanksgiving holiday, and we were all indeed very thankful to spend time together.
