#Microblog Monday 417: Ole Parsley

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

*******

I got Ole Parsley near the pandemic’s beginning: June 7, 2020. It wasn’t my first pandemic plant — the first… several… died from overwatering. But Allison taught me how to keep plants alive (and to stop naming plants I intended to eat), and Ole Parsley was a constant companion for the last 2.5 years.

I knew he was dying, but I couldn’t face it until this weekend when I said goodbye in the backyard. Maybe it is silly loving a plant this much, but I spent a lot of time with Ole Parsley.

Yesterday, we bought three new parsley plants and two new basil plants for good measure. There’s a lot of lush green that will slowly die over the next few months as I snip off leaves while cooking. I’ll love those plants, but none will ever take the place in my heart held by Ole Parsley.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

I had some parsley that took over half my garden. Turns out…I don’t really use parsley that much and it gets bitter when it gets too big.

But RIP Ole Parsley…

Oh, this made me unexpectedly sad. I’m sorry that Ole Parsley has faded away. I don’t know if you’ve read “The Final Girls Support Group” by Grady Hendrix, but there’s a character who has a plant, “Fine,” and she talks about it much like you talk about Ole Parsley. So you’re not alone! And Fine is edible, it’s a pepper plant. 🙂

You make me laugh! Poor Ole Parsley. I’m about to buy a basil plant, now that summer temperatures are back. (I don’t have fresh basil over the winter). I love having basil on my bench. I think I should buy some parsley too, though I don’t use it as often. Maybe coriander. You’ve inspired me it’s time to go shopping!
