I Am Almost 17,000 Days Old
I am going to be 17,000 days old tomorrow on December 17.
I had never thought about enormous calculations of time like this until Lori mentioned her milestone number a few months back, I put my date in an age calculator and discovered that I was rounding on 17,000 days.
It is weird to think about 17,000 days. Days sometimes feel interchangeable. What did I do yesterday? The same thing I will likely do today and tomorrow. But I have had almost 17,000 of them, and very few have been during a pandemic, working this job, living in this home, married to this man, with these twins. So… no… upon reflection, they’re not interchangeable at all.
Birthdays are nice, but those milestones feel so tiny against a number like 17,000.

Of course, I had to go use the calculator myself and discovered that I am currently 18,168 days old. Wow. Somehow that sounds even older than “almost 50 years old.”
Happy milestone count!
It’s weird that days are both so abundant and so limited. So alike and yet so unique.
I’m glad you think this way, too 🙂
Of course, I had to go in and figure out how old I am too. I’m not telling! It felt old. And yet, days feel so short, so frequent, that actually 17,000 (or more in my case) doesn’t sound like that many. If you know what I mean?
I did learn that I am going to have a major milestone on my sister’s 60th birthday in five years too. I’m not sure she’ll want to share the day though!
I am going to be 60 (!) in a few weeks. Not going to calculate how many days THAT is…!!
