#Microblog Monday 306: Mocktail Hour

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

*******

ChickieNob and I have started our own mocktail hour. The boys are not into our concoctions or ruining their appetite for dinner. But we are working our way through several bottles of Torani syrups and seltzer.

The best combinations so far have been chocolate-covered raspberries (splash of raspberry syrup, splash of chocolate syrup, dilute with seltzer) and coconut-lime spritz (splash of coconut syrup, a twist of real lime, dilute with seltzer). We put out olives or crackers or cherries and pretend we have all the time in the world before I begin making dinner. We are so fancy.

Though we never want to eat dinner because we’re full of seltzer. The boys may be on to something.

Are you also doing #MicroblogMondays? Add your link below. The list will be open until Tuesday morning. Link to the post itself, not your blog URL. (Don’t know what that means? Please read the three rules on this post to understand the difference between a permalink to a post and a blog’s main URL.) Only personal blogs can be added to the list. I will remove any posts that are connected to businesses or are sponsored post.

How civilised you and Chickienob are! I think your concoctions sound delicious. (Who doesn’t like chocolate and raspberry, or coconut and lime?) As if you’re having cocktails in a fancy hotel lobby somewhere exotic. Another way to travel without going anywhere.

Mealtimes around here have gone rogue. The night owls have decided that breakfast at 11 am is just fine (what?! It’s lunch time!) and since we had lunch at 2 pm yesterday, nobody wanted dinner until it was far past the time I wanted to make anything. Enjoy your mocktails and appetizers! Meals are for people not having a pandemic! Snacks are what’s happening…

I think you guys are on to a new diet trend! Anything, especially how things are now, that adds “sparkle” to a relationship is great. xo

I love this idea so much. These are the small things I know we will all remember when this is over. And I hope they’re all we remember – the sweetness, the fun, the time together, not the anxiety and scrambling for groceries.

Oooh…those sound like tasty combinations. Love that you create these together.

How about spearmint and lime? Fauxito.

Mmmm, mocktail hour sounds fancy! I hope you are using sophisticated glasses and messing around with fancy garnishes, too. When I am not having a cocktail, my mocktail of choice is ginger beer over ice with a hefty splash of lime, like a mock-mule. Mmmmmm. What a fun mother-daughter tradition you’ve started, ruining dinner appetites and all!
