Oil and Vinegar

You know those dreams where you start running but you can’t seem to get any traction, so your body is sort of moving slowly, discordant with how quickly your legs are running.  Is it just me?  Does anyone else have those sorts of dreams where you’re trying to run away, and you can’t seem to get your dream body to move?

I feel like I’m going through this day like globules of vinegar floating in a pool of oil.  I deleted large files out of my gmail account.  I did a bit of work.  I forgot about lunch.  I considered drinking more coffee countless times.

I probably always have a bit of a comedown after the Creme de la Creme posts.  It sometimes feels like popping a cage door and watching a bird fly away, without knowing if you were really ready to say goodbye.  Maybe it’s just start of the year blues.  Maybe it’s end of the world angst.

I dream about that a lot. That and flooding, especially lately, I dream about floods. For me? They’re anxiety dreams.

What I love about oil and vinegar? Add a little bit of mustard, and you get it all to mix. Maybe you just need a new project.

xoxo

I, thanks to a 15mon old who hasn’t slept through the night more than 8 times since he was born, don’t remember the last time I had any kind of dream. However, since I’ve been up since 4am, I get the slow moving, head-body disconnect thing. I’m totally there today.

Dream? That’s how I run in real life!

I have that dream all the time. :p Or I’m being chased & run into the house, but there’s a two-inch gap between the door & the frame & it won’t latch & lock.

Don’t worry, Mel, I’m sure you’ll find your Next Big Project to keep busy soon. ; ) As for the Mayan end of the world thing, I saw a funny related cartoon on Facebook that I can share with you. ; )

Those Mayans. Maybe they just ran out of room, and the next calendar was waiting somewhere for a grand unveiling, when the shit hit the fan?

Maybe you should approach this like salad dressing. Don’t you have to keep whisking as you add the oil or something, in order to get a true emulsion? 🙂

but we are so so happy you finally let it out into the world. I was so waiting for it this year. even more anticipation than before. The time zone thing threw me for a loop this time though. It was time for bed and getting ready for work by the time it went up. I am now looking forward to this weekend to have a proper curl up with the list. 🙂 thanks again

My dreams are usually about having to use the restroom but not being able to fine an acceptable one.

Lunch. I knew I forgot something.

I have that dream all. the. time. And it usually feels more like a nightmare than anything else. Probably because that’s what my whole childhood felt like.

You were actually in my dream last night Mel! And I swear you were telling me that you were pregnant… Sounds like a lot better dream than the one you’re describing.

My stressful dream always involves work. I’m some where on my campus (which is usually actually some version of my high school campus) but I’m not at my classroom and the period is starting and not only am I not sure where to go but I’m not sure what to do once I get there. And I’m freaking out because I know my students are waiting for me but I can’t get to them. Pretty telling, isn’t it?

I hope things stop seeming sluggish and blah soon. I hate that feeling.

I hate those dreams! I have those running dreams but I also have the dreams where you’re trying to reach something but can’t seem to see the whole picture so you can’t grab exactly what you need. I wonder what that is about.
Your day today sounds like my past two days. I’m in a fog!

I have that dream a lot. And the one where I’m screaming really loud, but no one can hear me.
Funny, you were in my dream the other night. I dreamed we were having dinner together and I was making a fool of myself because I couldn’t believe I was meeting Mel…you know, MEL, from Stirrup Queens??? Yes, THAT MEL!!! teehee

Why don’t I ever forget to eat lunch? 😉

I’ve often dreamed of being chased, running through expansive environments, never able to find escape. Other times, I know I MUST leave the room but can’t, because I’m trapped in bed. Those latter dreams are usually night terrors (and usually, when I’m overheated while asleep). I actually awaken during the natural state of paralysis, so I get those very freaky “I can’t move or shout!” dreams.

I refuse to believe in the end of the world hoopla, because that would be an incredibly sucky 31st birthday for my husband.

As for the blues, as much as I hate to say this (because I’m nowhere near ready to begin shoveling the driveway), it’s been a weird winter. Too warm. Everything feels slightly out of sorts right now. Haven’t had an inch of snow up here in Salem, and that’s just wrong by this time of the season.
