What I Learned at BlogHer

I did two of the photography sessions at BlogHer last week, and even though I didn’t edit these images, I thought I’d throw them up because I freakin’ took them through glass with a point-and-shoot.  Did you read that?  Through glass.  With a point-and-shoot.

We spent the day at the aquarium after swinging by my cousin’s house.  Our time was limited, so we decided to visit our favourites.  We swung by the clown fish and the crocodiles.  We spent a long time wandering by the sharks.  We learned that you can’t determine a sea turtle’s sex until they’re around 20-years-old.  That horseshoe crabs have blue blood.

During the dolphin show, Josh and I were whispering and the ChickieNob asked what we were talking about.
I said, “Daddy and I may be planning a surprise for you.” To which she shrieked, “you’re getting me a dolphin pet!”

Er…no…we are not getting her a dolphin pet.  Not even when she sketched out how the dolphin would be ours, but would live at the pool, and in the winter, could move into our bathtub.

She earnestly inquired why the aquarium didn’t have a mermaid exhibit.  I mean, on the spectrum of interesting sea life, she does have a point that more people would want to see mermaids than shield shrimp.

We went out to dinner and walked by the Harbour, and then made our way back home.

Your aquarium has better jellyfish than mine 🙁 Great pics!

Yes, why isn’t there a mermaid exhibit at the aquarium? Seems like it would be way more interesting than the freshwater fish of the Amazon. Just sayin’

Damn, I knew I should have gone to those photography sessions. Those are seriously impressive. So, what’s the secret to taking pics like that through glass.

I shoulda stuck with you on those sessions.

When I was a little older than ChickieNob, I got to pet a dolphin at Sea World. I felt sooooo connected to it. I was sure it wanted to come home with me and live in my bathtub and let me stroke it’s soft skin any time I wanted. Seriously. I yearned for that dolphin.

Too funny!

I will baby-sit your pet dolphin (and mermaid for that matter). There will be the logistics of getting them to So CA when you need my help, but easy peasy, right?

I seem to remember that some lucky kids got to pet the dolphins and then swim with them at the dolphin show. Wonder if they still do that — awesome ChickieNob day present.

I want to see mermaids. I would love a dolphin. I’ve been trying to get a baby Otter for years now. BigP promised if we never had kids I could get one. He sure is glad we spawned. He doesn’t want an otter.

What is the surprise? ???

Oooh… I will be taking photography lessons from you one day, I can tell. I am most impressed. Also at C’s willingness to think through the problem thoroughly in order to convince you of her plan’s merit. A good skill to have.
