We’ve labeled this frozen fruit summer. It started when Josh wanted chocolate-covered bananas. We bought a box from the freezer section but quickly moved to making them ourselves after we added up the cost of said box of frozen bananas. We ended each dinner for most of the summer with a chocolate-covered banana slice — perfection.

But then we expanded into frozen grapes due to an episode of The Handsome Podcast. Fortune Feimster mentioned frozen grapes, and I realized I had no clue how a frozen grape tasted. I don’t love regular grapes, but frozen grapes are one of the best things I’ve ever had.

I’m not sure where I originally saw it, but someone posted a Twitter thread of pictures that represent moments from a 1980s childhood. All except maybe five or six triggered such a clear and happy (or sometimes unhappy) memory from elementary school.

It will likely only be meaningful to kids in the United States, but yes to all of this. This is what childhood in the 80s looked like.

Say that title ten times fast. This is the original idea for Microblog Mondays. You didn’t have to keep it short, but I suggested short posts because I thought it would be easier, especially because tiny thoughts were ruling the day on social media.

This is the 500th week of doing it, and it will be ten years old in September.

This is such a smart idea: a savings group. Because different people will have different budgets or salaries, a savings club is a group you enter with your friends so you can do things together. Everyone can join in on the vacation or participate in a social activity.

“Forming gyemoim groups can help friends or families split travel costs equally so everyone can participate, regardless of his or her personal budget.”

The idea is that everyone contributes the same club dues, and when you have a big enough pot, you decide together how to spend it. Isn’t that a cool practice?

A gelati place near us has the most brilliant marketing plan. Every day, they declare two names as the “names of the day.” People with those names can get a free small gelati or X% off a larger size.

Of course, most people do not go for gelati alone, so everyone who accompanies them pays full price, and the store gets one or more people who may not have bought dessert that day. We end up buying 3 extra gelatis any time one of our names gets chosen.

Maybe Mikes or Jennifers wouldn’t fall for this trick, but they don’t usually choose Mikes or Jennifers. Sometimes those names pop up, but they more often choose names that are unusual but popular in our area, so people who never get to see their name on a pencil or other souvenir flock to the store to get their picture under the name sign. Everyone in our family has been called up at least once, and a few of us have gotten to be the name twice since they started it years ago.
