No Roundup

No Roundup this week.  I always feel odd when I don’t write the Roundup.  It has happened a handful of times, but as someone who feels a little robotic about consistency and schedule, it makes me feel out of sorts.

But I needed a one week break.  This week, we were driving and I commented that I felt so out-of-touch with things that I hadn’t even heard the song “Despacito” yet but I read that the video had 3 billion views on YouTube.  There was a moment of silence, and then the ChickieNob said, “Um… mum… that’s the song that is playing on the radio.  Right now.”  It was playing in the car, but because I had no frame of reference for how the song sounded, I didn’t even realize that I was finally hearing “Despacito.”

So I’m spending the next few days catching up on everything I’ve been missing this summer, getting centered, and then returning with a new Roundup next week.

Instead of reading a Roundup, tell me what you’re catching up on, too.

I love the Friday Roundup, but I also love the fact that you’re taking care of yourself and stepping back a little. You deserve it. Looking forward to seeing you in this space soon.

I’m catching up on reading in general. I haven’t made enough time for it this summer, though I’ve been doing other fun things so I don’t really have regrets. I also started watching Married at First Sight which has been on for a few years. It’s definitely interesting and something I can definitively say I could not and would not do (and not just because I’m already married). Oh and I would have no idea if I was listening to Despacito at this very second either. I can sing all the words to an extensive repertoire of kids songs, however.

You were better off not knowing you were hearing Despacito. Terrible song. 🙂

A break is always needed. I’m long overdue for writing again and am planning to hit he “Post” button soon. In the meantime, here’s what I’ve been up to:

It’s good to take time off. I think it refreshes you. I’m catching up on painting my house. Today I should be done.

Oh now I have Despacito stuck in my head!! 😛
Next week I took all 5 days off from work. It’s probably the first time I’ve been out of work an entire week since my little guy came home three years ago – and you can’t really count caring for an infant as a “vacation.” So, yeah, it’s about time! We are mostly doing a staycation, just finding fun things to do within driving distance, but I’m psyched and think it will be lots of fun! Enjoy your break! Poquito, poquito. Suave-suavecito!!

I hope you are having a wonderfully present time.

I’m reading the novel Everybody’s Son. I’m catching up on my Inbox.

Here’s a present for you: http://elitedaily.com/entertainment/celebrity/despacito-lyrics-meaning/1993395/

I’m catching up on nothing. Sleep, maybe, eventually. I haven’t heard Despacito either but I heard it talked about on The Read podcast last week. Your commenting while hearing it was hilarious, though, so thanks for that.

Catching up? Ha! More like barely keeping my head above water, and this will be a consistent theme for me for at least the next month. I do hope to steal a bit of time over the weekend for writing on my blog though.

I have a fairly long commute, so I’ve heard Despicito approximately 8476523 times. I may be in the minority here, but I actually like the song. I’m also loving Kesha’s “Praying” off of her new album, which dropped today.

Ha! Your daughter’s comment made me laugh. I actually had never heard Despacito, so I checked it out on YouTube after reading this post.

I feel constantly out of touch with things: I seldom listen to the radio (except NPR), and I hardly watch any TV. On the occasions when I see something online about a “celebrity,” probably 7 or 8 times out of 10, I have no idea who they are or why they are famous.

I am strangely OK with this, though. 🙂

I had to seek Despacito out on You Tube about two weeks ago because I heard about it being the most watched video and I had never heard of it. I don’t really get why it is so popular.

This weekend we will be catching up on unpacking our house since most of the work is done and we finally have appliances! We will still have some small things that need to get completed next week for our reno but we can finally start to move our stuff to where it will be permanently instead of boxes!

Just back from vacation, so catching up on chores. Kind of. Naps remain a priority.

Despa-what?

Catching up on: laundry, housecleaning, blog reading & commenting, & the umpteen NYT & WashPost newsletters in my inbox, as well as the articles I’ve saved to Pocket, an app Mali recommended. Among other things…!
