Wait… I Have a Second Party Trick

So Earthandink had a post about tetrachromancy, and while there is no test you can take online to see if you are a tetrachromat, there IS a test you can take to check your colour acuity.

Did I take it?  Uh… yes, I did.

And it made me feel really good about myself.  Actually, let’s not mince words: it made me feel superior to the vast majority of the world, including those who have not yet taken the test and therefore may have perfect colour acuity, too.  Plus look at the timestamps on Earthandink’s comments.  It took me 7 minutes tops — though probably more like 5 — to rearrange all those colours with the rest of the time spent leaving those comments plus running around the living room screaming, “I am peeeeeeeeeerfect!”

The first thing I did after I got my score was go upstairs to ask Josh how it felt to be married to someone with perfect colour acuity.  Did it feel good?  Did it make him feel a little self-conscious when choosing paint colours?  (It should.)  Did he feel like telling people in the grocery store about his wife?  About her perfect colour acuity?  Because I certainly felt like telling people.

I mean, look, I’m telling all of you.  Hi, I’m Melissa.  I have perfect kerning abilities AND I have perfect colour acuity AND I cannot tie my shoelaces (I never mastered that) AND I was such a bad speller in fourth grade that I had to pick up my books and go down to a third grade class because there wasn’t a low enough spelling group to contain me in my own grade.  So… you know… the skillz are hit-or-miss.

So how did you do on the colour test?  Please make me feel good about myself.

P.S. After you take the test, don’t forget to go prep your #MicroblogMonday post for tomorrow…

I think I’ve done it before and have done well. I have issues about colors. But I think it might have taken me more than 7 minutes if that makes you feel better.

Ooh! I need to try this.

3 Amel { 12.07.14 at 10:10 am }

Ugh…that was really tough. My eyes got really tired after a while. I scored 8.

My DP is colout blind so not much discussion about colours at home. I remember my high school friend and me having endless discussions about green-turqoise-blue….

Hey, thanks for the shout out!
I am practically perfect myself. It’s very Mary Poppins around here.

Following up on my poor sense of kerning, I got a 90 on the color matching. I really couldn’t separate the purples and blues in particular.

But luckily earthandink had also posted a link to the NIH’s “test your sense of pitch”: http://www.nidcd.nih.gov/tunetest/Pages/Default.aspx
and I am happy to report a perfect score there. Definitely aural here and not visual.

Don’t forget about the pants, too, when you’re doing your perfect dance.

Lol, you’re such a riddle wrapped up in a mystery inside a perfectly kerned enigma.

Sadly I have a problem looking at or reading things off a black/dark background post my cataract surgeries, Mel! I couldn’t do this for longer than a minute! 🙁

That is a neat party trick! I did pretty well on the color test, but nowhere near perfect. Now I have to check out this kerning challenge…

I got a 35 on the color test…bad lighting is what I’m blaming it on. However, I got a perfect score with the musical pitch score….

75a3ff (did I remember that right? having a little brain trouble today. I wonder if that’s why I only scored a 33 on the color acuity test. Anyway, I love blue. I have a post on my blog about it from yesterday. It’s funny that we’re both focused on color these last few days…the grey of December!

@Lori Lavender Luz: So true!

Ooh I did pretty well on this one (terrible TERRIBLE on the kerning). Not perfect, I got a 7. I thought it was easy too. I’m glad I have SOME skilz, in any case, though I suppose I always knew visuo-spatial stuff was my big weakness. I am the bomb at picking paint colors.

I remembdoing this a few years ago and getting a score of something like 8, I think. Anyway, I just came across this puzzle and it made me think of you and this post http://www.boredpanda.com/1000-colours-color-jigsaw-puzzle-clemens-habicht/

Ack, awful typos there *remember doing*

The mere idea of this test stresses me out. I defer to you.
