Anne Hathaway Quote from the Golden Globes

I love this quote so much that I have to type it down here so I don’t forget it.  And if you missed it, you should read it.  When Anne Hathaway won her Golden Globe, she looked at the award and said,

“Thank you for this lovely blunt object that I will forever use as a weapon against self-doubt.”

Isn’t that gorgeous?  Everyone needs that blunt object in their life, whether it is a kiss from a partner that lets you know that someone is always in your corner or a Golden Globe award.  In the end, we all just need to end up armed against self-doubt.  It’s one of those emotions that serve no purpose except to hold us back from maybe achieving something great.  I sometimes need to read something to remember that.  So thanks, Ms. Hathaway.

It is, and I wouldn’t have known she said it without you, so thank you! 🙂

Thank you for this. I missed this part because it was smack-dab in the middle of dinner time here.

Excellent quote.

Yeah, I liked that too.

I also liked seeing George Clooney and Ewan McGregor together in one shot on screen. Sigh. Drool!

I also loved her hat tip to Sally Field as proof that you can beat typecasting – because the flying nun grew up to be Norma Rae and Mary Todd Lincoln. Very classy.

Yes, I loved it when she said it and thought she scored a victory for all girls who look up to her and now see her as human, too.

I would have liked to have seen more of Tina/Amy (and Amy’s joke about Kathryn Bigelow was great) but always like the Globes.

Except, really, what WAS up with Jodie Foster’s speech?

Just heard it on the news this evening and I had to stop mid-bite and put my fork down. Yeah, I thought, that’s what I’m talking about Ms. Hathaway.
We do all have those blunt objects, it’s just a matter of grabbing for them when the ugly trolls of doubt and self-loathing get in our face much too much.
Thanks for posting her quote here today.

Yet another thing I need this week. In addition to the mental health day. Thanks for this, Mel.

one of my blunt objects is a quote from you Mel that I have scheduled into my calendar so that everyday at 11 am I remember “I believe in myself even when the rest of the world doesn’t know how good my story is yet.”
