Good Reads

I have joined GoodReads and I’m just figuring out the site, though I can’t really find anyone unless I’m willing to let it search my email addresses, and I learned that lesson with StumbleUpon (remember that SPAM event, anyone, when I clicked the wrong button?).  So if you are on GoodReads, please let me know or friend me so I can see what you’re reading.

Also, a question — I got an email that someone is following my reviews.  How do I follow her back?  And how is that different from friending?  And why do I have friends and fans?  What is the difference?  I guess that was more than one question.

I am hosting a Q&A for Life of Scratch over there for the month of March.  So please join along and ask your questions.  And spread word to others on GoodReads.  I’ll be really sad if I’m just chatting with myself.  Looking a bit insane.

I really wish I had joined it months ago because I’m always forgetting what I’ve read and here is this chance to have a history of what I’m reading — all in one place.  I added the two books I’m currently reading (Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens on your recommendation when I was reading Coraline — see, I do listen to you — and Peggy Orenstein’s Cinderella Ate My Daughter) as well as what I’ll read next (Hunger Games.  Then it’s back to the vampires).

Mostly, I just like being around others who pick up books and rub them against their cheek as they would a cashmere sweater. (What, am I the only book cheek-rubber?)

I love GoodReads and I love books so much that I just gave away my kindle. I wrote about my love/hate relationship with the Kindle on my blog back in January, and finally just gave it to my mom.

I think my GoodReads ID is annie025. I’d love to be your reading buddy!

You’re my friend – I just confirmed…

I’m still trying to think of questions to ask. I’ve never been very good at asking questions.

We’re already buds on Goodreads. That site does perplex me also. And, since I am the OCD type, it bothers me that I can’t remember everything I read lately. I’ve been reading a few books on Kindle, but I freely admit I still miss the feel and smell of a book. Just not the same. I equate to a fine Coach purse, of course. Tee hee.

I don’t rub books against my cheeks- but I smell them- love new book smells. I’m weird I guess.

YES- I want to be friends on good reads. Do I need to input your e-mail address to do this? So confusing. I’m aishacs at gmail dot com

I am on Good Reads too, although I really haven’t figured it out yet…

I signed up for Goodreads a few weeks ago & have added you as a friend there… although, like several of the people above me, I really haven’t quite figured it all out yet.

The thing that really bugs me is I took the initial quiz about books I’d read… & now it has those books on my “read” list. I read some of those books years ago, & I really just wanted to start from scratch as of January 1, 2011. Argh!

I love Goodreads. I particularly love the “to-read” option, so that I know what to buy when I run out of books.

I started “following” you in the last couple days, but I don’t know if you’re talking about me. It’s through Google Reader and I don’t really know how it’s different from fans, unless you mean Facebook fans. With Google Reader, all of the blogs I’m interested in show up chronologically on my Dashboard. If I’m interested in the first few sentences, I click the link (as I did here) and read the post. Hope that helps….

I like to smell books.

I just added you as a friend.

It connects with Facebook and Twitter – love it! I keep track of all my books on there AND there are great phone apps too.

Your statement of rubbing a book against your cheek just made me want to confess to smelling books. I LOVE the smell of a new book so much so that just the thought makes me happy. I like the smell of old books too… but often stop short of shoving my nose in between the pages because I can’t get past the idea of other people’s germs (which is irrational I know but still).

I am on goodreads too, just recently, I will go and add you 🙂

You are not the only book cheek stroker 🙂 It is pretty awkward stroking a Kindle against your cheek, though, kind of cold and unwelcoming. So I bought a red leather cover for it, and now it’s delicious. I have one FB friend who is on Goodreads and it posts her current fave. It drives me crazy because every single time she does I end up buying another book 🙂

Heh, I don’t know that I rub them against my cheek, but since I tend to buy lots of used books (I’m a library book sale whore) I do have this obsessive need to bury my nose in them and get high off that old book smell.

LOVED HUNGER GAMES. Couldn’t stop reading the first book…. stayed up all night to finish it. 2nd book is slow first half, but ropes you back in! Enjoy.

Oh no, what is Goodreads?! I am so out of touch. I am up for cheek rubbing and smelling lovely new books though. I am in fact so out of touch that I didn’t know that I could buy ‘Life From Scratch’ yet, I promise I will celebrate its arrival when it gets here in appropriate fashion. Then I will look at Goodreads and find out exactly how out of touch I am.

I just added you, so if you get a request from a Sarah that is me from over at Bio Girl! I love Good Reads to keep track of my books, but I think the site is a little hard to use sometimes. Still, it comes in handy reminding me what I have read and if I liked it 🙂

Also, I have just recently started “Life from Scratch” and I am loving it!
