Love Life from Scratch, on a table of a hundred new arrivals it would catch my eye. I want to read that story. It sounds like it is about people I would like to know. It sounds strong, prepared, declarative. I might even get it in hardcover.

Like Banana Split, but only if there is some banana (or ice cream) theme, metaphor...something that ties it in. Otherwise it sounds contrived.

Hate Pots and Plans, looks too much like a typo, too punny, a little cutesy, ending sound is unsatisfying.

I like Life From Scratch. It's the least "punny" among them. I don't generally like book titles that are too clever for their own good, and most on that list fall under that category to me. To be blunt, I really don't care for any of the others on the list (for the aforementioned reason), but if I had to pick one that I particularly disliked, it would be Pots and Plans. Too... um, too cute? Too twee? Too clever and thus not really clever at all?

I don't know though. I'm terribly anti-cute when it comes to book titles, but I am not representative of a majority, I don't think. Most people enjoy cute and clever, but I am bitter and wizened and occasionally a bit hag-like when it comes to my tendency toward skepticism. So take my opinion for what it's worth, which probably isn't much.

Life from Scratch is my fave. I won't repeat what everyone has said above. But how about "From Scratch", the "Life" seems a bit too literal. Just my opinion.
Banana Split, least-liked--it doesn't fit with what you described about the book, except for the "split" part; the title has nothing to do with cooking.

My second fave is Pots and Plans---I just love the way it sounds, oh the alliteration---its beautiful :)

Life from Scratch: Like a lot (but it looks as if there's already -- or about to be -- a book with a very similar name

My fave of the remaining ones is Licking the Spoon. Yeah, it sounds kinda like a euphemism for something or other. But if I saw a book with that title in a bookstore, I'd be intrigued and at least take a look at it.

Eating (my/her) Words: is pretty good too.

Do not like: Pots and Plans (kinda dull); Sunny Side Down (depressing); Banana Split (why banana?)

I like Licking the Spoon. The imagery it evokes, it is very provocative. Thinking about as an adult, when you lick the spoon its very sensory but also, you have shame if you have body image issues. Then as a child, licking the spoon evokes the image of the child at the mother or elder woman's (grandma) side, and the actual "reward" for helping (while learning to cook) is licking the spoon.

Life is like licking the spoon. Lessons learned from rewards and goodness, sensory goodness, and shame from bad choices made.

My Favorite is Mincing Words. I just envision so many different scenarios with that title :
Either way, no matter the title, I plan on downloading to my shiny new Kindle as soon as it's available :)

My first pick is Life from Scratch. It would make me pick up the book and read the back cover. Second choice is Pots and Plans, I just like the alliteration of it. Don't know for sure if I would pick it up though. Least fave, Sunny Side Down. Sounds sad and depressing...

When can we pre-order???
