Hooray for you! And hooray for such an awesome driver to rally strangers to make you smile. But…

I never ever ever take photos with any kind of sound coming from the camera, and I almost never take photos with flash. Next time I see you I will turn the sound off your camera and, if there is time between dealing with two sets of twins if they’re all with us, some low-light tricks. Without sound or flash, you can usually shoot whatever you want, and the content is more natural because people don’t realize you’re shooting.

That is what Harriet the Spy would do if she had a digital camera!

Mel, I am so proud of you for going on this trip! It can be so overwhelming and emotional to travel alone and leave loved ones behind, but sometimes the most amazing things happen when you push outside of your comfort zone. It sounds like you had an amazing experience! Getting home to Josh and the twins will be even better. I wish I could have gone to Detroit for your reading today, but we had to attend childbirth classes this weekend.

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes last week, the reminders of good things about getting older, and for inclusion in the round up. Ever since starting my blog I’ve secretly wished to write something decent enough to make it into your Friday roundups, so that was a huge gift in itself! The lovely comments I got from people made me so thankful to be a part of this gracious and wise community.
