Great post. I don’t really remember reading the book as a child but I would like to see the movie.
As far as the hope, as much as it can seem crippling sometimes and as much as we can convince ourselves it’s gone for good. One little blink of an eye and it all comes rushing back and anything looks possible again.

Thank you. I haven’t been able to explain why I keep watching the trailer on YouTube and why it makes me tear up each time I see it and the music moves my heart and the simple words ring so loudly in my ears. I never had a huge love for the book as a child but the trailer grabs me and slaps me around. I think the scene where he’s peeking in on his mother and (I assume) boyfriend stings me as well, since my own mother is remarrying and I don’t even know when because I do not approve. (that is a long story) Maybe I’m reading too much into that snippet of film…but since sometimes it is hard for me to ‘let it out’ and ‘let go’ I’m going to see the movie and hope that it’s as cathartic as I need it be.

Beautiful post! I also cried at the movie preview. Something about the book coming to life and feeling like I was walking through my childhood – it just killed me.

I cried too but blamed it on hormones. Hey just because I don’t have the right mix of hormones to get pregnant doesn’t mean that they don’t serve some purpose. May as well make the best use of my hormomes as I can.

Lovely post – I’m not sure how I feel about the movie (some things deserve to stay non-Hollywood-ized and in our imaginations), but the softie in me welled up during the previews too. : ) Hope indeed.

Wow, gorgeous post. I can’t wait to see this movie. I really want to like it and hope that it does the book justice.
