Ferris Wheel

children mentioned…

They may have entered as always with their hands over their ears and they may have ducked out of a few lines after waiting in them for a few minutes, but the twins actually went on the rides at Funland (a series of carnival rides at the beach) this year and we didn’t even need to ask the operators to stop them mid-ride this time around.

I was that parent who was jumping up and down and cheering on their child every time they slowly came back into view from the ferris wheel. And yes, heavily-tattooed woman who made fun of us for being so excited, it is amazing to watch someone who started out at two pounds wave at you from the top car of the ferris wheel or from the mermaid boats.

I was crying with happiness because they were so proud of themselves.

Oh…and the other excitement was that the Wolvog found a snake in the house today, but they got rid of it before they woke me up. And no one took a picture. And the other perfect moments this week all came with Advocacy Day, and I promise that post is coming soon.

What perfect moment did you note this week? Swing by the rest of the list to see what others stories people are telling…

I'm the mom jumping up and down at the bottom of the ride, too.

Yay for the twins enjoying the rides!

Scary about the snake, I wouldn't want a pic of that.

This put a big smile on my face and in my heart:

"…it is amazing to watch someone who started out at two pounds wave at you from the top car of the ferris wheel or from the mermaid boats."

A perfect moment, indeed.

That is totally great. Your little ones sure are brave. Way to go in taking them to to rides. My brother and I lost a snake in the house when I was a kid too. My mom was none too happy about it. We never found the guy, I think he made it to garter snake freedom in the back yard. Most likely there was some scene like in Shawshank Redemption…but with a snake.

I totally hear you Mel. I take such delight in the smallest things, like my children touching water and people think I'm nuts. But, when you've watched your middle child stand on the second step of the swimming lesson stairs for five years because the water terrifies her…knee deep is cause for a BIG celebration!!!

I might have secretly made fun of the heavily tattooed woman for being so joyless in her own parenting.

Just like the time that some dudes made whipping noises to mock something I did toward my husband, and my husband said, "Yeah, it's really horrible to have a beautiful wife who dotes on you."

Hooray for all of you! Boo for the snake!

I can now never go to your house, in case of snakes. But I would like to borrow the Wolvog to check my house for snakes.

I would have been jumping up and down, too!

Snake. In. Your. House.
Funland looks fun indeed.

What a great "perfect moment." And I'm with you—cause for celebration! 🙂

I still remember my mother cheering every time I came around a ride. That really sticks with a child, in a good way. I can't wait until my boy/girl twins are old enough to go on those amusement rides. They are only 18 months now, but soon.

Snake in the house? That's pretty much how I define the anti-thesis of Perfect Moment. Sorry to any of the snakes who have their feelings hurt; I just can't deal with snakes!
