i am nearly 45 and have had pcos since about 16. i have done the pill doses to have regular periods. that didn't help things as the cramps were unbearable. i then was put on kliogest and primult n and have no cycles. at a pap smear my gp found something a bit abnormal and i had a d and c this year. nothing to be worried about. i have been on metformin for quite a while. reading this i didn't know that it was meant to help the cycles. my doctor said it would help lose weight. didn't work. have a lap band and lost some weight with it and now have regained my weight. i am beginning to wonder if the medication i am on is now causing me to go through menapause - suffering very badly with bad sweats all day. saw gyno and had some blood tests last week. have been given a script for an estrogene cream for lubrication as i am now very dry still don't know if it is early menapause - have to see the gyno again in about a month. i am wondering if pcos gets worse during menopause - gained weight, hair on body seems to be getting longer and darker. been diagnosed now with diabetes type 11 and at the moment it is horrible to exercise because of the sweats.

can you answer any of my questions to pcos/menapause/medication, etc.

a great site. keep up the great work.

For anyone out there that's having issues with the metformin. It's very important to increase the dose slowly. I thought I was increasing it slow enough by going up 500 mg a week until I got to 2000mg, but I was sick as a dog at 1000mg. I slowed down and took the 500mg for 2 months before introducing another 500mg. I'm now only at 1000mg (again) but I have none of the side effects. I plan to hang out here for at least a month before introducing another 500mg.

Don't give up on this fantastic drug just because of the initial side effects! They do get better!

I am really glad that I found your blog. I am still on Met, and just like you I really had a hard time adjusting to it. It was so difficult to adjust especially when I had to go to the toilet too often. I didn't see any noticeable results though. I will read more on Actos to determine whether it's also beneficial for me. "Thank you very much for sharing.

I just turned twenty and had all the blood work done to test for PCOS but he never said he was worried about it being that. So I am unsure about what to think at this point. Results will be back on tuesday I am nervous!

If anyone has any advice for me I would really appreciate it

What an WONDERFUL blog! There is so much incredible information here, I am completely amazed.
I know that this site will help educate so many women who are fighting infertility.
I hope it's alright if I share it with my visitors/readers as well, I know it will help them so much.

Pamela
http://www.pcosinfo.com

Hi, my name is Stephany.I'm 20 years old and I'm pretty new to this blogger thing (sorta inching my way along). I was recently diagnosed with PCOS last month, but I've kind of been suspecting this for the past two years. My doctor prescribed Glucophage (not fun, lol). I was SO happy to find your blog the other day and had to ask: Have you ever heard of anyone using Yaz and Glucophage at the same time?

it's really great to find your blog...thank you for all this information. I'm a pcos girl, no period at all and my doctors are concerned about my fertility. So it's good to come across such a resourceful blogger!
